Video Profile of Nate Dehel
Glasgow High School soccer player Nate Dehel is this week's WDEL High School Athlete of the Week.
Dehel made 16 saves in Glasgow's 0-0 draw with Flight A leader Wilmington Charter on
Saturday.
What was going through Nate's mind while the force were pelting him with shots?
"Get up and keep saving them. I was very nervous when I first came in and the team
helped settle me down and put the confidence in me. I just came out there and gave it
all and ended up with the tie."
The neat thing about Nate? He's not just a goaltender, in fact, he's a striker who
volenteered to play in net when an opening developed.
"I can do both. I actually like playing goalie some games. I feel like I give our
team a better opportunity sometimes. As a striker, I feel like it's good for me to be up
there helping them get a chance to score."
So which does Nate prefer? Scoring a goal, or making a diving save?
"I would have to say making a diving save. It just feels better in the sense that
you just saved a goal."
The Dragons will make the state soccer tournament field this year, what's the
difference between this year's team, and last year's squad that lost 3 straight games to
end the season?
"The difference is we came together a lot better as a team. We have a lot more
talent this year and it's working out great."
