| Video Profile of Carolyn Szymanski | Caravel Academy softball pitcher Carolyn Szymanski is this week's WDEL High School Athlete of the Week.
Carolyn tossed a perfect game and also hit two triples in a victory over St. Elizabeth last week.
Carolyn says her pitching success is based on her delivery.
"It's a little crazy. I have a crazy beginning. I guess it could be overwhelming for some when they don't see it at first."
With her success at both the plate and in the circle, you might think Carolyn puts a lot of time into her crafts, and you'd be right.
"A lot of practice goes into it during the previous weeks. I do two other practices for pitching."
Like many top athletes, Carolyn's softball career started early.
"I started in Little League and then I did travel ball. After that I just stuck with it, and I just like the game."
Caravel has won 8 state championships since 1999, including last year's title over Milford. Carolyn says she loves being with a successful team.
"I'm so happy to play with Caravel just because it's such a good organization and so much practice. We practice a lot so I think that shows."
