Salesianum second baseman Lincoln Lamberton is this week's "WDEL High School Athlete of the Week".
Lincoln hit a home run and a double in an 11-10 Sals victory over Father Judge (PA) at Campbell's field in Camden (NJ) Saturday.
Lamberton talked about his approach at the plate.
"Seeing the ball and trying to find a pitch you can drive through the field, not trying to do much with it. Just looking to hit the ball back up the middle and good things will happen for you."
The Sals are off to a solid start, including a victory over highly-ranked Middletown last Tuesday.
"I think we started out pretty well, we're 6-0 right now. We've had a couple of rocky innings, but overall I think we've started out pretty well."
When Lincoln starts a double-play, his toss to the shortstop ends up in the glove of a very familiar person in his life: Shortstop, and brother, Grant.
"The last time we played together was Little League. It was about 6 years ago. To come out here and be able to play 2nd (base) and short(stop) together has been neat."
No matter how this season ends up, Lincoln says he's hanging up his spikes and focusing on the business school at the University of North Carolina.
"When I got the opportunity to go down there and visit I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the environment, and the academic opportunities that they provided me were something I couldn't pass up."
