Newark High School running back Jordan Imeokparia is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.

Jordan rushed for two first quarter touchdowns in the Yellowjackets' 43-35 semifinal win over Salesianum last weekend.

Middletown is next up for Newark in the state title game, and Jordan says they're a tough opponent.

"They get after it, they're a good team. I respect everybody on that team and they fight to the end."

Newark started the 2009 season at 0-8 with many of the same players who will be on the field at Del State Friday. What was the mindset of the team?

"We knew we had a team that was going to have to stay together as a family, there were going to be hard times. It was hard, but we knew we were going to get here."

Jordan says he tries to pattern his running style after a former number two draft pick from USC.

"Reggie Bush, I liked him when he was college. He was a spectacular player, anytime he could have scored when he got the ball."

Jordan says he hopes to get offers to play Division I football, but says he wants to major in business in college.

"I would like to have my own enterprise in sporting goods like Dick's Sporting Goods and Modell's"
