VIDEO: Interview with Amani Clark
Appoquinimink basketball player Amani Clark is this week's WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week.

Clark scored 37 points in the Jaguars' 2 victories to claim the B+ Foundation Cup as part of the Diamond State Classic last week.

The title win came over Damascus (Md.), and Amani says her team was ready to defend their home state.

"We were ready because they were out-of-state, and we were the underdog. Everyone looked at us to get beat so that motivated us to come out harder and stronger than ever before."

Amani says she hopes to pattern her game after one the NBA's best.

"LeBron James because he's all over the place and aggressive. He'll get a rebound or steal, take it to the hoop, shoot a shot, and that's the type of player I'd like to look like."

While Amani puts up a lot of points, she says another part of her game drives her success.

"Defense. I get a steal, even if I can't get a basket, I know one of my teammates will be there to put it back up for me."

As for life after Appo, Amani isn't sure where she'd like to go to college, but says she would like to get into sports journalism.

"If I can't play sports at the next level, I'll still be involved in basketball, writing about sports and keeping up-to-date."
