St. Elizabeth basketball player Tim Massado is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.

Tim scored 20 of his teams' 23 1st half points in a tough loss to Catholic Conference rival Salesianum Friday night.

Despite the loss, Massado says his team showed a lot in a gritty comeback.

"It just shows us that no matter what we never give up. We fought all the way back, we were down 16 or 17 in the first half and we took the lead late but they got it."

The Vikings program made a rare appearance in the state championship "Final Four" last season, and Tim says some dreams were reached during the tournament run.

"I've always wanted to play at the Bob (Carpenter Center). That was a big achievement for me, when we got there I was really excited. In the playoffs I realized that you have to take it a game at a time and you can get really far."

While St. Elizabeth succeeded last season, so did Tim, being named Delaware's Gatorade Player of the Year, and his biggest fan got to tell him the good news.

"When I actually win I was very excited. My mom is the one who told me right after Coach told me, I was just really happy."

As for life after the Vikings, Tim says he wants to go to prep school for a year to hopefully earn a Division I scholarship, and would like to be a coach when he's done playing.

"I think I have a great understanding for the game. I see things before it happens, so I know I could be a good coach."
