Wilmington Christian basketball's Natalie Stella is this week's WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week.
Natalie scored her 1,000th point for the Warriors last week, and said she initially had no idea what was going on.
"I heard everyone cheering and the buzzer going crazy and I was wondering 'what's wrong'. Afterwards they told me and all I could think of was making my dad proud."
Wilmington Christian's record has been up and down through Natalie's years with the program, but she says she couldn't be successful without the help of her teammates.
"Not all of them are basketball players, but they all did a great job of encouraging me and being there, and pulling through when it really mattered. My coach was also amazing in supporting me."
On the court Natalie is a prolific scorer, but she says her best basketball attribute comes from inside.
"No matter what you do out there, you play with your heart and give it your all. That's all that matters and what it comes down to is whether you tried your best and played with your heart."
As for life after Wilmington Christian, Natalie is looking at Pennsylvania Division II or III schools to play basketball, and major in physical therapy.
"People that were in my situation in high school and college, just playing sports. I want to be able to help them recover whenever something happens."
