Mount Pleasant basketball's Paris Holland is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Paris scored 30 points in the Green Knights' 70-64 victory over St. Georges Tech last week.
The senior says he felt early it could be a special night for him and his team.
"I realized in the first quarter when I scored two times. I wanted it. I told my team what we needed to do to maintain our attitude and effort and then overcome the game."
Mount Pleasant will make their first state tournament appearance since 1999, and Paris says some new blood pushed his team into the bracket.
"We have a lot of new players: Tomir Gibbs, Dwayne Holland, and Devon Holland. They're all new players so they've helped us out."
Paris says his earliest basketball memory is playing with his family, which he says as toughened him up for the tough games in Flight B.
"When I play with my family it's real tough. We all come together and it's more aggressive than we play regulation."
After Paris Holland graduates from Mount Pleasant, he intends to go to a prep school, and says drafting and design interests him as a possible career path.
"It brings out another side of me. I'm chilling, but when I do art it mellows me down to where I'm calm."
