Concord baseball's Kyle Menchaca is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Kyle hit a home run and pitched 6 strong innings in separate victories for the Raiders early in the season.
He's adept at pitching, hitting, and catching, which is his favorite?
"I’d say pitching, getting a big strikeout. Knowing that I can shut another person down and I outdid them that at-bat."
Kyle comes from a pretty good baseball family, his older brothers Todd and Brandon both played for UD along with Concord, but says he's trying to establish his own baseball identity.
"It's not necessarily following in their footsteps; I want to leave my own. Try to outdo them and be bigger and better than who they were."
The Raiders opened the week at 7-0, and Kyle says the key isn't just hitting and pitching.
"Defense has definitely led the way. I'm real confident letting them hit the ball, our defense will make the play every time."
As for life after baseball, Kyle Menchaca says he could seem himself becoming an investigator.
"I've always had a big interest in law. I have a family friend who works in the FBI and I think it'd be really cool to do that."
