VIDEO: Interview with Andre Patton
St. Elizabeth wide receiver Andre Patton is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Andre caught three touchdowns in the Vikings' 24-21 victory over Appoquinimink last Friday.
While Andre is an excellent wide receiver and strong safety, the senior says he secretly longs to be a running back.
"I actually like running the ball, but I'm a little bit too tall (6'3") to be a running back. They usually go for my legs."
St. Elizabeth's best win this season might have been a storm-delayed 17-7 win over Division II power Delmar. Andre says that game showed the focus of his team.
"That Monday we came ready to play, that was probably one of the best games we've played this year."
Along with his football prowess, Andre averaged about 18 points a game last year for the St. E basketball squad, and says while football may be in his collegiate future, he loves hoops too.
"I played football longer than I did basketball, but once I started playing basketball I just loved it."
When he gets to college, Andre says he hopes to turn his love of math into a potential major.
"Mechanical Engineering, because I like doing a lot of hands-on stuff."
