VIDEO: Interview with Darnell Savage
Caravel Academy running back Darnell Savage is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore scored six touchdowns in the Bucs' 53-21 victory over St. Elizabeth last Friday.

Darnell says he loved the feeling of finding the end zone each time.

"It's a great feeling when you score in any game, and especially in a state tournament game. It's a great feeling when you score six touchdowns because that doesn't normally happen."

Darnell's great skill and elusiveness helped key the huge performance, but he also emphasized that it was not all him.

"Our blockers and front line are great. We execute fakes well, the other (running) backs block well, it's a team effort."

Caravel is no stranger to the state tournament after falling in the championship game last year, I asked Darnell what's the difference between the regular season and postseason.

"The intensity is great, you're so excited you just can't wait to play because you want to do well."

Caravel fell in the state championship game last year, what will it take to have the Bucs holding the trophy on November 30th?

"Hard work, dedication, and we've got to come out there ready to play."
