VIDEO: Interview with Morgan Grubb
Conrad Basketball junior Morgan Grubb is this week's WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week.
Grubb recorded 25 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over Wilmington Christian last Friday.
The Redskins have steadily improved since re-opening in 2007, and Morgan thinks confidence has been a key.
"We've come along and tightened everything up. Winning is always a good thing so we look to win and improve every day."
Conrad has held 13 of their opponents to 40 or less points, and Grubb says talking goes a long way to helping on the defensive end.
"The key is communicating, honestly. You have to let your teammates know of a pick is coming or a shot is coming off (for rebounding). Communicating and seeing both is basically the key."
Morgan Grubb plays volleyball along with basketball at Conrad, which does she like better?
"Volleyball is thrilling because you can hit the ball as hard as you want. Basketball you can't take your anger out unless you cant to get a technical foul."
Morgan says she's interested in coaching after she's doing playing basketball.
"I understand the game well and I enjoy being around it, and knowing I can help improve kids."
