Pencader Charter lacrosse player Tommy Warwick is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week
Tom recorded 6 goals and 5 assists in a 13-11 conference victory over Mount Pleasant on Tuesday afternoon.
The attacker says there's a good reason his 7-4 team has already surpassed last year's win total.
"I think we've gotten closer as a team. We've been practicing hard lately, and we're reaching our full potential right now and hopefully we can keep it going."
Pencader has been the talk of the education community this year as the Charter school will shut its doors after this academic year. Tommy says the team has taken the bad news and turned it into motivation.
"At the beginning of the season it was something we talked about a lot. We felt if we wanted to have a fun season we had to not necessarily ignore it, but we had to put it in the back of our mindset that it's our last season and let's make it the best one we've ever had."
I asked Tommy what attracts him to the sport of lacrosse
"I think it's the adrenaline of actually playing. Being in the moment and having to make quick decisions."
Tommy's favorite class is a rather unique one offered by Pencader Charter: Business Calculus
"It's definitely not an easy class, but it's something the school offers and I took a chance in having it. It's turned out to be somewhat easy when I put in the effort."
