Mount Pleasant's Tori Ryan is this week's WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week.
Tori scored a pair of goals in the Green Knight's 3-1 road victory over Caravel Monday night in their season opener.
Talking to Tori after the game, she said she had "happy tears", and it wasn't just about the win.
"This is my first game back playing and it feels great to play with my team my senior year, and win against a team we lost in overtime last year. "
Tori's comeback to the field came after rehabbing an injury for four months.
"I tore my hip labrum playing lacrosse (last spring). Recovery was tough, and it was definately hard to get on the field, harder than anything I've ever done. It feels amazing to be back with my team."
On the field, Mount Pleasant Head Coach Peter Meisel says Tori can be a difference maker.
"She's just dynamic. She has the ability to make positive things happen and has the ability to 'hop'. It's sort of like when you see the pop of wherever the ball is she has the ability to turn what can be a mess into something positive."
Tori, who is considering studying psychology in college, credits her teammates for her two goals in the win over Caravel.
"That's what we've practiced in practice every day, tipping the ball in and going hard. Having to jump for the ball, that's what I did, I had Sarah Reuther behind me doing what we do every day."
