VIDEO: Interview with Ray Jones
Hodgson quarterback Ray Jones is this week's M&T Bank WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
The junior filled the box score in a 45-0 win over Howard last Saturday, rushing for three touchdowns, throwing for three more, kicking three extra points and intercepting a pass.
How does Ray make it work?
"I'm very athletic around the ball. I'm always swarming to the ball on defense and I make plays on offense. It's natural, I'm just an athlete."
Ray's athleticism stands out because he says he's playing outside his usual position in the backfield.
"A lot of the camps I go to I'm more of a running back, because they say I'm a running back. At quarterback I go to get get extra help since I'm playing quarterback here."
Hodgson head coach Frank Moffett says Jones is a spark to his 3-2 squad
"He's just a blessing and he has so much energy. He gives energy on both sides of the ball and when he's kicking off and PATs (points after touchdowns). He's just one of those kids who has special talents, he does things you just can't teach."
Jones says he wants to major in business tech in college, with the hopes of owning a business like his father.
"My dad owns his own business, a carpet cleaning business, so it's great to have someone like that around in my life."
