VIDEO: Interview with Jen Borio
Padua volleyball's Jen Borio is this week's WDEL M&T Bank Female High School Athlete of the Week.

The senior had 16 kills in a straight set thumping of St. Mark's Tuesday night.

Jen's volleyball career started in 5th grade when she was approached by a club coach and saw aspects to the sport she liked better than the physical nature of basketball.

"As I played, I learned how to be fluid on the court and I really like the teamwork aspect and the celebration aspect of it."

The defending state champion Pandas are 14-0 after the win over St. Mark's partially due to Jen's powerful attacks, but Borio says it's more fun when all 6 Pandas are involved in a point.

"My favorite part of a match is when our whole team just clicks. The other team might a great swing, but our defense pops it up, it's a perfect pass, setter sets it up perfect, and we end the play with a perfect kill."

Rider University is next for Jen after Padua, where she'll play volleyball and also wants to become a Special Education teacher. She credits her interest to time spent volunteering with Project UNIFY and the Special Olympics.

"Even though I'm helping them I get the real benefit. It's so satisfying to see someone so happy just for you being there and wanting to reach out and talk to them. It's indescribable."
