VIDEO: Interview with James Magnani
St. Mark's lacrosse attacker James Magnani is this week's M&T Bank / WDEL High School Athlete of the Week.

Magnani scored two goals and assisted on four more in the Spartans' 11-6 upset victory over Tower Hill.

St. Mark's head coach Mark Reynolds says Magnani has plenty of desirable skills.

"He's got some of the best hands I've ever coached. He can catch just about anything. He's got a good outside rip (shot), and all-around good handle. He's a good leader, with the leader part being the best part.

Magnani serves as a captain on the team and says he tries to be a positive influence on the team.

"I lead by example, and by words. Show them what to do, and show them what to do."

James says he started playing lacrosse at age 7, and credits his brother T.J. , who played at Ursinus, for making him better.

"He was a goalie in college, so having a collegiate goalie in your backyard to shoot on really helped me."

James says he wants to get into the legal profession as he goes to Cabrini next year to play Division III lacrosse.

"They have a rich history in the NCAA Tournament. I hope to help push them and make them a National Championship team.

And St. Mark's is hoping to make a late season run behind James Magnani, this week's M&T Bank / WDEL High School Athlete of the Week. In Wilmington, SG 1150AM WDEL Sports.
