VIDEO: Interview with Samantha Broadhurst
Cape Henlopen girls lacrosse goaltender Samanatha Broadhurst is this week's M&T Bank/WDEL High School Athlete of the Week.

The junior made 10 saves in the Vikings' 14-7 victory at Tower Hill last Friday.

Cape coach P.J. Kesmodel says Samantha's play has really helped in big moments this year.

"It's a big confidence builder. When she's on, it's going to be tough for anyone to beat us. In those big games we played with all of those nationally ranked teams, she played really well in those games as well."

Samantha Broadhurst says it's a great feeling when she's able to make a key stop.

"It's just an adrenaline rush, to not let your team down. They've done all the hard work, and you need to do your part."

Cape has played a tough schedule this year, losing 5 of 6 during a stretch against some of the top teams in the country. Samantha says lessons were learned in those games.

"We've learned that losing is beneficial. We've learned to stay together as a team, and never blame anyone, and always stick together. When you win, you win together, and when you lose, you lose together."

Samantha has time to make her college decision, but has an idea what she wants to major in.

"I'm looking to major in political science, because I love that in America we have the opportunity to get involved in politics."

Cape Henlopen will be going for a 6th straight state championship when the DIAA Tournament begins Saturday.
