Another sign of a declining U.S. city: Packs of stray dogs (Detroit)

In recent years, we've seen revealing photographs and stories about several U.S. central cities in decline: Homes and buildings literally falling apart; vegetation retaking the concrete, etc.

But I hadn't thought about packs of stray dogs.

See this BLOOMBERG NEWS article about Detroit:

Time for the PETA folks to step up to the plate and put the walk of THEIR talk into action by start capturing these dogs and taking them home with them as these animals need a home. They of course won't do that, so then the authorities will have to go in and kill these vicious animals. THEN PETA will make a big stink about how these are simply dogs who've gone astray, due to the lack of love given them by their human masters [which is actually correct], but they surly aren't going to be the one's to go in and get these dogs and try to retrain them to be house pets again. So these dogs are a real threat to anyone walking around that city.

As this is an Urban area, wonder how many of these loose dogs are Pit Bulls, Rottwilers, Dobermans, and German Shepherds vs English Terriers, Chuauhas, Dashounds, and Cockerspaniels?

MikeFromDelaware: So in addition to gays and African-Americans, you hate dogs, too. Christianity has really been a positive influence on your life.
Again, you sound off without knowing what you are talking about. You assume these homeless dogs are viscous. You assume people involved with PETA and other animal rescue groups don't already rescue and foster large numbers of homeless animals. They do. But you can't be bothered to find things out before you shoot your mouth off.
Of course, part of the problem is elitists like Obama, Biden and Teddy Kennedy patronize puppy mills, instead of giving homes to rescued animals because they think pedigree papers are cool. And many of these puppy mills are operated by self-proclaimed "good Christians," Amish in Lancaster County, who practice terrible animal abuse.
I was wrong. You and Pizza are cut from the same cloth. You are both ignorant, hate-filled and despicable.

Does your employer know how you spend your time at the computer?

Matt 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Mike, I'm afraid this issue is bigger than PETA could handle. Besides, as you point out, it requires action and not just talk.

billsmith: It must be awful to wake up each morning with so much hate in your heart. Sometimes, you make serious points on the topic at hand. But all too often your attacks on other posters destroy your good points. I continue to pray for you.

PETA doesn't quite live up to all their claims of "saving" animals.

"The New York Times found that the animal rights group kills far more each year than it places for adoption. Last year, only 19 were adopted from its shelter; the year before, it was 24."

EarlGrey: interesting their hypocrisy, it's OK if they kill animals, but no one else. Got it, thanks.

This could be a good idea for blighted and abandoned urban areas. Already there is a some urban gardening going on in Detroit.

A modest proposal might be to encourage people to experiment with new menu ideas. "Free Range Poodle" would surely be a hit. Plus, just think what great shape you would be after chasing one of these dogs down.

Oh my, Earl is reading and quoting the Moonie paper. Earl claims to be a "good Christian" and the Rev. Moon claimed to be Jesus returned to Earth, so of course, whatever the Moonies say must be so.

Now we can officially add PETA to those MikeTheBigot hates. Whatasmatta? Were they picketing Chick-Fil-A when you went for lunch?

There are plenty of stray dogs in Washington, DC as well, most of whom are politicians in the Democratic party.

By the way, how about those dogs that shot to death the jogging college baseball player from Australia? There going to be tried as "adults". Truth be told, once convicted of the crime, which I'm sure they will be, they should all three be marched out to the gallows and publicly hanged and it should be broadcast on TV all over the world. Adults? No, these monsters are lower than any animal.

bill: If you bothered to read the quote in my post or read the article you might have noticed the source was the "high & mighty" New York Times.

Mike: Yes, the hypocrisy from PETA is amazing...if they practiced what they preached I would at least respect their group.

EarlGrey: Well said, apparently PETA believes there should be one standard for them & a different standard for the rest of us.

I should also add that PETA doesn't give a hoot if people get killed, as long as it ain't THEIR people.

Who cares if people get killed? According to Christian dogma, when people die, they go to heaven, they are better off. So, why be sad about that? When bad people die, they go to hell and Christians already get happy about that.
When animals die, they are just dead.
Spartacus was on TV yesterday. All the slaves are crucified on crosses lined up like telephone poles as far as they eye can see. We already have telephone poles and electric poles here. Let's put the poles to good use and crucify all the Bible thumpers. Jesus isn't rapturing them, so we can help out. We could even raise money to retire government debt. $1,000.00 for s spear to stick in a Christian's side. $100.00 for a crown of thorns. $500 to flog one. And Christians are such masochists, they'd probably love it.

Hey Bill, your idea sounds like a good one. There's just one problem - the government won't use the money to pay the debt - they'll just spend it on freeloaders and then borrow more money on top of that.
