Will Dems start to pile on botched Obamacare marketplace rollout?
Debt ceiling fight now behind (for now), it's a given Congressional Republicans will pile on the botched rollout of HealthCare.gov.
But to what extent will Congressional Dems pile on as well?
It's starting to happen. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on ABC's "This Week": "What has happened is unacceptable in terms of the glitches."
The paradox: The government shutdown and looming debt ceiling fiasco - ostensibly with the aim of defunding the President's health-care overhaul - ended up diverting substantial media attention from the persistent problems with the rollout of the new health exchanges.
But now the spotlight shines brightly on those glitches, and Dems up for re-election in 2014 are becoming impatient. So far, only some Congressional Republicans are calling for the head of Health & Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, but I wouldn't be surprised if some impatient Dems turn on her.
The WDEL story about the one lone Delawarean who finally was able to get signed-up for Obamacare may have offered a partial reason for the problem. The woman being interviewed mentioned that some issues involved HER computer. Many of these folks who will be applying for Obamacare are the lesser-than-thee and the poor elderly. Neither may be very computer literate. Will the system work for a person who's still using Windows 95/98, etc., or an old Machintosh small black/white screen built into the computer [my first computer back in the 90's at work]?
Given the usual hassles with launching a new computer program when the computers are newer with the latest or fairly recent software is a mess, how much worse will it be for those who have an old computer with Windows 95? This may be Obamacare's Achilles Heel.
