Another TSA humiliation...

The DAILY MAIL on line chronicles the latest humiliation of a passenger at the hands of TSA agents. (It probably didn't help that an agent apparently did not know the meaning of "incontinence product")

Don't like it. Don't fly. Hit the airlines, the airport authorities, the airport concessions, the local governments who use airport fees as a form of taxation without representation, and ultimately the TSA in the pocket book.

What's even worse is how the Kafkaesque ICE treats U.S. citizens crossing the border or within 100 miles of the border - not just the Mexican border, the Canadian border. Detention without probable cause. Being locked in cold rooms for days at a time with no explanation or apology.

Personal property - especially smartphones or laptops - confiscated, damaged or destroyed.

This story serves as yet another example of why the T.S.A. should be dismantled and security privatized.

bill: I don't think boycotting airlines would remove the T.S.A. as it's a government bureaucracy and not a privately owned/run company.

The entire TSA bureaucracy is an incompetent incontinence product, made exclusively of BS.

Earl: You miss the point. If the TSA costs the airlines business, the airports business, the companies that operate in and around airports business, they will force changes.

Some woman complains on a message board, nobody cares. Major corporations with lawyers and lobbyists get things done.

And don't forget, we had private security doing screenings for 30 years. That didn't work either.

I say get rid of all passenger screening. They've got security doors on the flight deck. Worse case, pilots fly the plane into some farmer's field (like they did in Western, PA) instead of a building. There will be some crashes. Air travel will be as safe as it was 50 years ago - and still a lot safer than driving.

bill: Don't you think that TSA costs the airlines millions in business now? TSA is a nameless/faceless bureaucracy...who are these lawyers you mention going to sue?... some low-paid rent-a-cop with a TSA badge?

Earl: For a guy who claims to follow politics closely, you can be pretty naive. TSA is part of the Department of Homeland Security. It is overseen by House and Senate committees. Corporations don't have to sue. They lobby. And they stop giving funds to some and start giving them to others.

The TSA exists because people like you got up in arms after 9-11 and politicians wanted to avoid looking "soft on terror." When politicians want to avoid looking hard on guys with incontinence, arms will get twisted.

Don't blame me for TSA...I wasn't for the Patriot Act under Bush either.

You are the naive one if you really think that Corporate lobbyists could defeat TSA.

Earl: Your hatred of anything having to do with government really blinds you to the allocation of power in this country, which is what they intend. Money rules. Bureaucracy is bureaucracy - government or corporate. As long as the elite keeps you focused on and hating the government, you pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

bill: I am a fan of neither the corporate nor government elites... that would be the position of most Tea Party-types as well.

The G.O.P. establishment usually side with the corporate elites and this administration typically sides with the government elites.

Earl: That's the game they talk. They are not really on different sides. Only one elite and the government and corporations work for it.
TPers sure talk like they are a fan of business and business elites.
