Evidence the Cold War never ended: Did Kremlin plan 'Wall Street bear raid'?
With the escalating crisis between East and West, stories of lingering Washington--Moscow intrigue long before the Ukrainian/Crimean crisis are emerging.
Unfortunately, we must take all these stories with a grain of salt, just like Reagan's "trust but verify" during the SALT process.
But, one of the most interesting stories of geopolitical intrigue before the current stand-off comes from the BBC's Business Editor, Robert Peston.
Peston recounts a fascinating tidbit - never revealed in a BBC Two documentary - in which ex-U.S. Treasury Secretary, Hank Paulson, recalled a scenario which had the Russians suggesting a deal with the Chinese to throw Wall Street into a tailspin by jointly selling Fannie and Freddie securities on the market... (Of course, Paulson's Goldman Sachs actually did contribute to the economic tailspin.)
So, Romney was correct about Putin/Russia and 0bama, Kerry & Hillary were all wrong... Mother Russia is our biggest geopolitical foe...followed closely by China.

Actually Earl, Obama is an even greater foe:
1. Because he'll only make idle threats rather than use any kind of force.
2. Because morally he's no better than Putin, and in fact is probably worse.
Conclusion: Obama is the greatest threat to world peace because he's a coward. The American President is everything in these matters, and when the American President is weak, the rest of the free world is weak.
Sorry to those of you who think it's "none of our business".

Romney also said we had far fewer battleships than we did in 1917... We also have far fewer horses and bayonets if you remember Obama retorted...
Sarah Palin also said Russia was our biggest menace. When Putin lifts his head to look over the Horizon, the first thing he sees is Alaska....
So why aren't you hailing Sarah Palin as the great oracle of Delphi? One who saw Putin's danger long before McCain, Romney, or Lindsey Graham?

Where did the follow-up comments go?

We experienced a complete crash of our blog posts this morning (while I happened to be gone -- lecturing classes at the University of Delaware, so I didn't know about it for some hours).
So my blog, posted this morning about the Obama Administration's lack of transparency (and any comments with it), disappeared, as did any other comments posted for any columns after about 10 a.m.
We could restore everything else because of system redundancy, but the system cycles through only once a day.

Thanx for the update Mr. Loudell...any idea what caused the crash?

I asked, but never got a definitive answer...

Kavips: Thanks for the reminder.
HAIL, SARAH PALIN!

kavips: You're right...looks like Palin is more geopolitically savy than pResident 0bama, Hillary, Kerry, McCain or Graham.
