Hillary Clinton vortex swamps Joe Biden in the Senate
Yet another article about the 2016 Presidential election, and how Hillary Rodham Clinton's seemingly inevitable Presidential bid is swamping Joe Biden's presumed 2016 hopes.
But this article (in POLITICO) offers a twist I hadn't focused on: Given Joe Biden's decades in the United States Senate - all the friendships and memories - not a single member of that august body is willing to stick out his neck for Biden over HRC. Further, it's not as though Delaware's Congressional delegation is prepared to launch a "favorite son" effort. No matter that Biden is much more personally engaging, and seemingly more comfortable in his own skin, than Hillary.
Two things appear to undercut the Veep: The psychology that it's "Hillary's moment." And more so than HRC, the Vice President's attachment to an increasingly unpopular President.
Allan: I believe part of Biden's problems also are from how he's been portrayed in the media since becoming VP. He suffers from the "Dan Quayle Syndrome". Biden was a highly respected senator, chair of Senate Foreign Relations Committee, prior to becoming Obama's VP. 6 years later, he's comic relief for the latest problem in this White House.
He, like former VP Dan Quayle, a very smart and intelligent person, was made to look like a bumbling idiot by the media, thus killing any chance he had for a run at the Presidency.
So why would any of his Senate pals risk their reputations on backing a Biden run for the White House? They wouldn't.
Allan: When reading your posted link, I also read this story there, you might find of interest.
Where will 70% of our population live? Good news for cities and metropolitan areas, including the Wilmington Metro. Now, all Wilmington and the suburbs needs to do is
get rid of all the gun violence that seems to be ruining the reputation of this area. Wilmington and NCC are located in a prime spot midway between DC and NYC with easy access via AMTRAK and I-95, plus we have the lowest taxes in the Boston, NYC, Philly, Wilm, Balt, DC metroplex. So we should be sitting pretty, IF we could get rid of the gun violence.
Forget how the senators see the 2016 Presidential race. The way the majority of voters see the candidates is more important.
When the Obama administration took over, the media were uncomfortable telling jokes about a Black president. And for good reason. The man has very thin skin. Maureen Dowd wrote a column in the NYT where she made fun of his ears. He didn’t ignore it and in fact made his displeasure known to her. Her response to him, in the paper, was they were trying to thicken his skin. In this atmosphere, the media went after Joe Biden. They have to tell jokes about someone, after all. He made sure to give them plenty of material.
After years of being portrayed as a goofy uncle, Biden is not being taken seriously by the people or his peers in the U. S. Senate. Mrs. Clinton is not being taken seriously by the voters. Her time is over. It’s time for her just to retire and babysit the grandkid. I actually do not expect her to run. The obligatory book tour she is now on is not working out well. The book is not selling well. The Clinton fatigue factor is very noticeable. Biden is not more perceived as Presidential as he was in 1988 and 2008. Expect an as yet unknown to be the Democrat nominee.

Biden was a highly respected senator by whom? It certainly wasn't by me.

Mr. Pizza. You once held Stalin in high esteem... We don't... What you think of Biden is tainted by that.... Sorry... But when you fail to endorse him... it is an unequivocal endorsement by the rest of us....

Most Senators are men. I believe all have wives. For them to now state they are against Hillary would cripple them at home.
This is no reflection upon Biden... It is on Hillary because that is where the buzz is today... She's pushing a new book.
Speculation at this point is meaningless. Remember how Michele Bachmann was going to dominate all the Republican primaries, a myth that was pushed by America's media right up till Iowa's results?...
People speculating about this race now, are silly. And the press is always catering to the silliest of people so this tripe is to be expected... But even so... it is still... silly.

Silly is saying that not voting for Hillary is sexist/a war on women... just as the charge of racism for all who question our current leader is ridiculous. The sexists/racists are the ones who vote FOR Hillary, 0bama or whomever solely BECAUSE of race or sex. rather than voting on issues/policies/beliefs of the candidate.
BTW, Hillary's book is not exactly "flying off the shelves"...I actually hope Hillary is the nominee in 2016.
