The Newark Arts Alliance began almost 20 years ago as a way to create more opportunities for artists and make the arts more available to the public.
“We want to present art that's of the most professional quality, but at the same time, we also want to give beginners an opportunity to get their feet wet and exhibit, and learn from others who are doing their same medium.”
That's Executive Director Terry Foreman who says she thinks they've accomplished that goal through a variety of programs.
“Art classes, exhibits...we have a traveling art program called Art to Go, we do a summer art camp called Camp Imagine.”
And she says with all of those options, there's no need to be intimidated.
“The arts are for everyone. Just come, get your feet wet, come to our doors, see our art. When you see the art that's on display you'll see the diversity of expression, you'll see that there's beginners exhibiting as well as seasoned professionals. We try to make art really user friendly.”
