|Starting New Year's Day, Delaware's Department of Health and Social Services is teaming up with the Governor's Office and the YMCA of Delaware in a program that uses social media, with the stated goal of helping you improve your health.
Details coming up in WDEL's Delaware Healthwatch.
The "31 Days to a Healthier You" program is using Facebook and other sites to offer daily fitness and activity ideas, nutritional information, smoking cessation tips and the like, to help you get healthier in 2013.
Program participants can post photos on social media sites showing their progress toward their health goals, and encouraging others' efforts.
DHSS says Delaware is improving in some health-related areas--the number of Delawareans who smoke is dropping, as is the rate of cardiovascular deaths in the state, but the number of people who say their lives are sedentary is increasing, along with the state's diabetes rate.
You can follow or participate in "31 Days to a Healthier You" by visiting the DHSS links on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Flickr, Instagram or YouTube.
