VIDEO: Ursuline's Carter - WDEL Female HS Athlete of the Week Ursuline basketball player Meghan Carter is this week's WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week. Carter is part of a balanced Raider lineup that is off to an 8-2 start this season. Meghan says she takes a lot of pride in not always getting the most points, but helping in key areas that don't always make the box score. "I don't really think of it as a points thing. If you help others and help the defensive end, it's offense and defense, not just an offensive game." Meghan is one of just 3 seniors on a youthful Raiders squad, and she has taken a leadership role in the team. "As a senior, all the freshman and sophomores look up to you. It's really special and means a lot to me." Besides basketball, Meghan also excels at volleyball and girls' soccer during a busy athletic school year. "I've never focused on one just because I always feel like if I focus on the one I'll miss the others, so I just play all three." Meghan says she doesn't plan on playing varsity sports in college, but says her sports career is guiding her major choice: nursing. "I get hurt a lot, so I'm always learning about something new. I like how the body works, and I want to find out more about it." |
