VIDEO: Newark's Horne - WDEL Male HS Athlete of the Week

Newark High School's Andre Horne is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.

Andre pushed the Yellowjackets back to the State Tournament Final Four following a win over St. Georges Tech Sunday.

While being one of the state's most dangerous scorers, Horne says he also likes helping his teammates get easier baskets.

"I draw a lot of attention as I attack the basket, so I just find my teammates wide open on the corner or for 3. I just give them the ball."

I asked Andre to give us a self-scouting report.

"I'm a hard worker, hustle for every loose play, and an amazing scorer. I'm a rebounder and an outside shooter, I do it all."

By making the quarterfinals last week, Newark got to play at the Bob Carpenter at UD, a longer sized court, and Andre says the experience will help him in the future, and now.

"You've got to get ready for big size courts like that. It was a really good experience because I played in other arenas like that and it's no big deal."

As for life after basketball, Andre says he's interested in coming back and becoming a basketball coach.

"I saw a lot of NBA guys doing that and on TV, and I think if I do that I'd be remembered back in Delaware."
