Weldin Stewart: Insurance co's can't impose Sandy-related hurricane deductibles
State Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart says insurers aren't allowed to impose hurricane-related deductibles on Delaware homeowners whose property was damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
Stewart's office Friday sent out a statement saying Sandy wasn't packing sustained hurricane-force winds when it hit here, so insurance companies that try to impose hurricane-related deductibles on Delawareans will have to answer to her department.
State residents who need information on resources available to Sandy's victims can find that info on the Insurance Department's website, and anyone with a question for the Commissioner's office can call 1-800-282-8611.
