Mardi Gras comes to Wilmington with MSquerade
Get a taste of New Orleans Mardi Gras months in advance without even leaving Delaware!
WDEL's Amy Cherry explains.
Drinks and dancing and getting decked out all for a good cause at the Queen Theatre. The second annual MSquerade Friday night raises money for the more than 1,500 Delawareans suffering from multiple sclerosis, a disease that has no cure.
"Many people come with their masks on, but at the MSquerade, they'll be doing face painting, bedazzled with glue-on jewels," says chapter president of the Delaware MS Society, Kate Cowperthwait.
The best part, may be the feathered and sparkling masks, but Cowperthwait says the band is even better.
"Philly Gumbo, oh it's fabulous. It takes you right into the center of New Orleans, makes you feel like you're right there. It's a rocking good time, a rollicking, rocking good time." says Cowperthwait
You'll dance till your feet hurt, and don't worry, the MS Society has got you covered-- they're selling flip flops at the bar.
Local superstar chefs Julio Lazzarini and Jennifer Behm will be honorary chairs at the second annual event.
