VIDEO: Carney defeats Kovach in U.S. Congressional race
Democratic Congressman John Carney has earned another term in the U.S. House of Representatives after defeating Republican Challenger Tom Kovach in last night's election.
With more than 64% of the statewide vote in his favor, Congressman Carney will head back to Washington for another term in the U.S. House, a place the lawmaker he looks forward to returning to.
"We have a great country here in the United States of America but we have to work together to get the things done that are necessary," he says.
Carney says he looks forward to returning to Washington and pass legislation to help Americans, many of whom are veterans.
"The least that we can do is put the country ahead of ourselves when we go into vote and do the and to do the work that you would have us do," he says.
Throughout the campaign trail, Carney touted his bipartisanship and says he hopes to bring balance in opposition of Tea Party conservatives in a Republican controlled U.S. House.
Nearly 250,000 voters punched their ballots in favor of Carney, putting him far ahead of Kovach, who says he was pleased with his campaign despite the outcome.
"Things didn't turn out our way. We didn't get a majority of the votes, but we made a difference," he says.
