VIDEO: Guards pace Blue Hens to conference win
Jarvis Threatt and Devon Saddler combined for 42 points as Delaware ran away in the second half to defeat Hofstra 69-54 in their CAA home opener Wednesday night.
Delaware (7-8, 2-0 CAA) only led 31-28 at the half despite 11 points by Saddler and 10 more from Threatt. Hofstra stayed in the game thanks to 20 points scored in the paint, including 10 by reserve Daquan Brown.
Any hopes of a Hofstra (4-11, 1-1 CAA) upset went away as Delaware scored on 15 of 17 possessions early in the second half, while the Pride's shooting percentage dropped from 46 to 29 in the second half.
Saddler led Delaware with 23 points, his 6th 20-point game of the season, while Threatt compiled 19 points and 6 steals. Forward Jamelle Hagins only attempted three shots, and did not score despite playing 35 minutes, although he did block three shots and grab six rebounds.
Brown finished with 13 points for the Pride, who have now lost 9 of 10, while Delaware picked up its 4th win in a row.
Delaware continues CAA play Saturday in Atlanta against Georgia State.
