VIDEO: Sals' long-range shooting overhelms St. E
Nick Perugino led a Salesianum long-range barrage with 6 three-pointers, as the Sals defeated St. Elizabeth 69-57 in Catholic Conference basketball Friday night.
Perugino started the game by hitting a 16-foot jumper and a three-pointer on Salesianum's opening two possessions, and combined with Donte DiVincenzo to score all 16 of the Sals' points in the opening quarter for a 16-12 lead.
The Vikings briefly cut the deficit to two early in the second quarter before another Perugino three sparked an 18-2 half ending run for a 34-16 advantage. DiVincenzo had a pair of dunks, including an alley oop from Perugino, in the quarter.
The lead eventually swelled to 19 early in the 3rd quarter of yet another Perugino triple, before the Vikings put together a quick 16-5 run which cut the advantage down to 9, but they could get no closer despite a trap which frustrated the Sals at times.
Perugino ended with a game-high 25 points, while DiVincenzo and Andre Patton of St. Elizabeth both scored 22.
