Delaware lawmakers weigh in on Sandy relief measure
Congress has finally passed legislation that sends relief funds to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Senator Tom Carper says the measure was too long in coming.
Carper says the legislation sends vital funding that will help coastal states prepare for and mitigate damage from future storms.
He says East Coast residents can now begin rebuilding after the devastation of the storm.
Meanwhile Senator Chris Coons says the delay in the funding is regrettable, but now East Coast residents and businesses can take steps to rebuild and prepare for the future.
In voting for the relief funding Coons says the bill gives Delawareans and other East Coast residents the resources they need to rebuild their homes, businesses and communities.
President Obama is expected to quickly sign the $50 billion relief bill.
