VIDEO: Late rally sends St. E to victory
St. Elizabeth Andre Patton broke a 4th quarter tie with nine straight points boosting his Vikings to a 49-39 victory at St. Mark's Monday night.
St. Mark's found itself ahead 36-29 after a Keith Hicklin field goal and then a free throw with six minutes remaining, but then the Spartans went ice cold. Meanwhile, the Vikings exploded, starting with a Sheldon Sorrell three-point basket where he was fouled which cut the game to three.
Following a free throw, Patton tied the game by converting an offensive rebound into a put-back basket. The senior did the same thing on the next possession to give St. Elizabeth a 38-36 lead. The next two possessions were finished by Patton drives, the second of which came with a foul.
The 20-3 game-ending ending run concluded with four more Patton free throws along with a pair by Mike Piekarski, as the Vikings improved to 7-6.
St. Mark's, who were paced by Hicklin and Papa's 12 points, fell to 6-7.
