VIDEO: Salesianum wrestlers survive Spartan's comeback attempt Salesianum held off a late comeback attempt by St. Mark's to secure a 39-27 win in wrestling Tuesday night. The Sals were beneficiaries of a quick start that involved a 19-second pin from junior Daulton Gregory during the 195 pound match, which helped Salesianum jump out to a 9-0 lead. They padded that lead by another 12 points on a pin from Jason Stevens in the 106 pound match. The Spartans made a comeback attempt though, getting to within 21-12 with two consecutive pins by Justin Engelmann and Drew DaVia. During the 160 pound and penultimate match, Nic McGinley pulled the Spartans to within six points on a pin, to narrow the Sals' lead to 33-27. However, Mike McLaughlin ended St. Mark's comeback hopes when he pinned his opponent during the 1st round of the 170 pound match to secure a 39-27 win for the Sals. |
