VIDEO: Caravel lady hoopsters survive Appo's rally

Caravel withstood a late run by host Appoquinimink for a 43-36 victory Monday night.

The Buccaneers got to a strong start by holding the Jaguars scoreless for most of the first quarter, before surrendering just one basket for a 14-2 advantage after eight minutes.

Things started to unravel for Caravel in the fourth quarter when the Jaguars went on a 11-2 run to cut Bucs' lead to eight at 39-31.

Caravel responded in the final minutes when Walker made a layup that gave the Buccaneers the momentum they needed to seal the victory.

Pa'Ris Christie and Taylor Bond led the Jaguars with 13 points each.

Yasmin Walker led Caravel with 14 points, while Ky'Asia Stanford and Micah Morgan both contributed 10 points.

Caravel (11-4) pushed its winning streak to three and will be at Ursuline Thursday.

Appoquinimink (12-2) lost for the first time since their opener, but return to Blue Hen Conference play to face Newark Thursday.
