Wilmington shooting victim turned suspect

A shooting victim goes from the hospital to jail.

Police say 19-year-old Kyref French, who was shot on the 700 block of East 22nd Street on Easter Sunday, now faces weapons charges.

Police allegedly found a gun in the car used to transport him to the hospital. They say the gun matches pictures on French's cell phone, where he's seen posing with it.

Police Chief Christine Dunning says, “The sad truth is that today's victim is tomorrow's suspect.”

French is a convicted felon, prohibited from possessing a gun. He's behind bars on $12,000 bail at Howard Young prison.
