Newark mom leaves for Afghanistan
Technical Sergeant Amy Kline, a single mother and resident of Newark, leaves Monday for two weeks of training before deployment to Afghanistan.
Sergeant Kline is a contracting officer and 15-year member of the 166th Airlift Wing, Delaware Air National Guard.
She will spend six months near Kabul working under U.S. Central Command authority as a contingency contracting officer.
Kline previously deployed for two weeks to Saudi Arabia in 2002.
166th Airlift Wing Commander Colonel Mike Feeley says, "We typically shine a spotlight on large groups of our Airmen who deploy... The deployment of Sergeant Amy Kline is a great example of the numerous people who frequently leave our base without fanfare or public recognition because they leave alone."
