Deployed council members may still have a voice back home

Elected local officials who are deployed would still be able to carry out their duties far from home, under a bill introduced in the Delaware General Assembly.

The measure is in response to situations like the one facing a member of Dover City Council.

David Anderson, now deployed with the 198th Signal Battalion, says there are ways through the Internet for deployed council members to still take part in meetings and votes.

Local governments would have the option of making allowances for deployed council members to still be engaged back home under the bill.
