Progress and problems in latest DE Kids' Count fact book
Location is key to the well being of kids in Delaware, says the latest Kids' Count Delaware fact book just released.
Kids Count Director Janice Barlow says the new numbers show some positive signs.
"One of the things that we're seeing is that our births to teens, age 15 to 17, has decreased to 19.6 per thousand. The other positive thing that we're seeing, unemployment and foreclosure rates that are decreasing and that's good because it's a modest but hopeful change in our economic outlook."
A continued concern, says Barlow, is low birthweight babies and too many children living in poverty in the state.
