Father charged with filing false report for child, who wasn't missing
Wilmington Police charge a father with filing a false report after they spent significant time and manpower trying to find someone who was never missing at all.
Police say Harry Hyland said he had left his 11-year-old stepdaughter in his parked car on 500 North Market Street for a minute and when he came back, she had vanished.
A police investigation found the girl was never even with Hyland and wasn't in any danger. She was at her grandmother's house, where she goes every day after school.
