Firefly gives area economy a boost
As the dust settles from the second Firefly music festival, state officials say it was a success with regard to tourism and the economy.
Linda Parkowski, Director of the Delaware Tourism Office, says many area businesses benefited from the festival, as not all concert goers stayed on the grounds of Dover Downs.
"We know for a fact that Chik-Fil-A did great business all weekend long, we know that Wawa did great business, we know the pharmacies were busy, we know the stores were busy, the hotels were busy, so overall, it was great economic impact."
Parkowski says she thinks people will know what they're up against next year with regard to traffic, and believes that beach business won't be hurt by the festival.
