Philly abortion doc in court again for drug plea

A Philadelphia abortion doctor is again due in court for a plea hearing in a federal "pill mill" case.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell has balked twice before at scheduled plea hearings to resolve charges he illegally dispensed OxyContin and other painkillers.

The 72-year-old Gosnell is already serving life without parole in the deaths of three babies born alive at his West Philadelphia clinic.

The spring murder trial over his abortion practices came after federal drug agents raided the clinic in 2010, and found unlicensed staff and chaotic conditions.

A defense lawyer says Gosnell has signed a plea agreement on the drug charges. But the deal isn't final until Gosnell pleads in court.

The hearing is set for Tuesday afternoon before U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe.
