VIDEO: Blue Hens continue march to Thursday's opener
The Dave Brock era of Delaware Football begins on Thursday night when his Blue Hens take on Jacksonville at Delaware Stadium.
One of the contests going into training camp was at quarterback between Trent Hurley and Trevor Sasek, with Hurley ultimately winning the job after both quarterbacks received snaps with the first-team offense early on. Brock said Hurley's mobility, despite not being a true running quarterback, turned out to be a big difference between the two signalcallers.
"I think he (Hurley) did a really nice job from an escapability standpoint. He did a nice job from a standpoint of keeping a play alive and getting us out of a bad play. He has a little bit of an advantage from an experience standpoint."
The meeting between Delaware and Jacksonville will be the first between the two programs, but Brock says you can't underestimate the Dolphins' talent.
"Jacksonville is a terrific opponent. They've had success the last couple of years. Won 10 games two years ago and 7 last year. They have an awful lot of returning players in their program. They certainly believe in what they do and how they do it when you look at the film. They play very aggressively on defense, they want to pressure the quarterback."
Kickoff at Delaware Stadium is set for 7:30pm.
