Child struck by a car on her way to school
A little girl is struck by a car on her way to school.
It happened on East Basin Road near New Castle at 7:15 a.m. Thursday.
Police say 11-year-old Melanie Enger ran across the roadway directly into traffic and was struck.
She's being treated for an arm injury at A.I. duPont Children's Hospital. Police say the little girl didn't use a crosswalk.
The driver, who struck her, wasn't cited.
