Heller, a bartender and cook, says she was eagerly awaiting Oct. 1. She spoke during a health insurance marketplace kickoff event hosted by Christiana Care at Hanover Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.
"There's a lot of people who want insurance like I do that either simply can't afford it, don't understand it or for some reason as I have, cannot get it," she said.
Lawondale Parker of Wilmington also attended the event and spoke with marketplace guides about secondary coverage to her medicare plan.
"I am a kidney transplant patient. I do have a lot of doctors that I'm involved with," Parker said.
The hospital partnered with Choose Health Delaware for the Tuesday event, which helped local residents get information on their options for enrollment under the Affordable Care Act.
