VIDEO: Wesley faces tough Homecoming challenge
Normally when you think of Homecoming, you think of honoring the past, crowning a King and Queen, and an easy football victory.
Wesley College will do the first two things this weekend, but the game itself promises to be yet another challenge for Mike Drass' squad.
Huntingdon College out of Montgomery, Ala. will join Wesley on the Miller Stadium field turf Saturday afternoon, and they enter the game with plenty of momentum.
The Hawks sport a 3-0 record after defeating Mississippi College, Louisiana College, and Ferrum in their first three games. Wesley has played the first two in recent years, with the game against La. College going down to a field goal in the final seconds.
Huntingdon mixes and matches a lot on offense, with 13 different receivers having caught passes from quarterbacks Ryne Taylor and Taylor Hughes, who have both thrown for 200 yards in at least one game this season and will likely split time Saturday.
Last year in Alabama, Wesley trailed 14-0 early, and then 14-3 at halftime. The teams traded touchdowns to make it 21-10 before Wesley took advantage of an interception and a fumble, converting them into scores in a 31-21 victory.
Matt Bundy and Jeremiah Howe both caught touchdowns for the Wolverines in that battle.
Fans coming to the game are asked to bring canned food to support the Food Bank of Delaware. You can also hear the game on 1150AM WDEL, WDEL.com and the WDEL Smartphone App beginning at 11:30am.
