Politico: Biden's absence from debt limit fight intentional
Unlike previous years, it appears Vice President Joe Biden isn't taking a primary role in helping to negotiate a resolution to the ongoing fiscal crisis in Washington.
Jonathan Allen, Politico White House Bureau Chief, tells Delaware's News at Noon that Biden's absence is intentional, because Democrats believe he will give up too much.
"Senate Majority Leader Reid went to thought strategy for the debt limit debate with President Obama over the summer and basically had one condition: Joe Biden is not gonna' be cutting any deals this time and clearly the President agreed to that," Allen says.
Allen says Biden hasn't been part of the back-channel negotiations involving the debt limit and budget deals unlike in 2011 and 2013, when he helped design deals with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
