New Network Access Point puts Wilmington on the information superhighway
Wilmington is now on the information superhighway.
WDEL's Mellany Armstrong reports.
It doesn't look like much, but...
"This is a really significant box, believe it or not, for the state, the city," says cloud-computing services firm IPR's CEO Tami Fratis.
The new Wilmington Network Access Point, or NAP, will...
"Make transportation of information faster, and also allow huge amounts of data to be transported," she said.
Governor Markell says being connected at high speed is important.
"We have thousands of people in the financial services industry, as well as other industries that are entirely dependent upon these kinds of connections," Markell said.
Markell says the NAP will also enable state government to connect its offices throughout Delaware.
