VIDEO: Reeder, Sals end Middletown's streak in season finale
Troy Reeder scored two touchdowns to help lead No. 2 ranked Salesianum to a 24-13 win over No. 1 ranked Middletown Friday night in a rematch of last year's state title game.
Reeder's first touchdown came in the 1st quarter on a 25-yard run, which gave the Sals their first points against Middletown since 2011. He also scored on a 46-yard TD run.
Daulton Gregory helped ice the game with a 1-yard run in the 4th quarter.
The Sals' victory ends a 23-game winning streak for Middletown, which began in the 2011 playoffs.
Middletown WR Chris Godwin scored the Cavaliers' first points of the game with an 86-yard kickoff return to start the second half and tied the game at 7-7. QB Darius Wade also threw a 1-yard passing touchdown to Garrett Maniatis in the 4th quarter.
Wade also turned the ball over twice with two 4th quarter turnovers, the first being a costly fumble that set up the Sals' third touchdown when the Cavaliers were trailing by four points. He also threw an interception on the next drive.
Sallies and Middletown both finish the regular season at 9-1 and are projected to be the second and first playoff seeds respectively.
